Chris Miller, a representative for Illinois' 101st House District, has said that the Trump administration is actively targeting criminals in Illinois. He referenced the indictment of Sosa Cardona, a Chicago businessman accused of conspiring with two employees to "knowingly provide false and fraudulent information to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service." Miller made this statement in a Facebook post dated March 11.

"Spring cleaning underway with Trump to weed out these criminals in Illinois because Pritzker refuses to support federal immigration policies," said Miller, State Representative, according to Facebook. "According to an indictment, Chicago businessman Sosa Cardona conspired with two employees of his firm to knowingly provide false and fraudulent information to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on behalf of his clients."

According to Miller's Facebook post, he cited a Chicago Tribune article reporting on a newly unsealed federal indictment against Jose Gregorio Sosa Cardona. The 40-year-old faces seven charges, including conspiracy to commit immigration fraud, falsifying applications for immigration benefits, and making false statements to U.S. immigration officials. Cardona was arrested on March 10 and has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors are seeking his detention pending trial. Cardona operates Delta Global Solutions Inc., which assists individuals with applying for asylum, immigration visas, lawful permanent residency, and other immigration benefits.

The indictment reveals that in 2020, Cardona allegedly printed a document falsely purporting to be an official law enforcement report from Venezuela, dated May 17, 2017. This document was meant to provide false corroboration for a client identified as S.G. He later submitted various forms with false information and fraudulent documents to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). This case is one of five clients detailed in the indictment.

The indictment comes amid intensified efforts by the United States government to crack down on illegal immigration. On January 20th, an executive order by President Donald J. Trump directed key officials to prioritize prosecuting criminal offenses related to unauthorized entry or continued unauthorized presence in the country.

Miller has served in the Illinois State House of Representatives since his election in 2019. A native of Illinois, he is also known as a third-generation cattle farmer and grain operator based in Hindsboro. He holds an associate degree in agriculture from Lake Land College and a Bachelor of Science in Education.
