Illinois State House Representative Adam Niemerg has voiced concerns over an incident at Alan Shepherd Middle School in Deerfield, Illinois. He said, "we cannot have middle school girls forced to change clothes in front of biological males," in response to reports that a student was compelled to change in front of a transgender peer. Niemerg made these remarks in a Facebook post dated March 18.

"We cannot have middle school girls force to change clothes in front of biological males in Illinois schools," said Niemerg, State Representative, according to Facebook.

According to the Lake County Gazette, the incident involved Nicole Georgas filing a lawsuit against the school after her daughter was allegedly required to change for physical education in front of a biological male. During a school board meeting on March 11, Georgas recounted how her daughter left the locker room when administrators tried to make her change clothes under these circumstances. Reports from female students about a boy being present in the girls' locker room led to administrators reprimanding them and attempting to enforce the changing requirement.

In his speech on the House Floor, shared via his Facebook post, Niemerg elaborated on the situation, revealing that the girl's parents possess audio evidence of a school official threatening disciplinary action against girls who refused to comply with changing requirements. He criticized educators at Shepherd Middle School for their handling of the matter, describing it as akin to sexual assault due to their lack of intervention.

Georgas spoke with Fox News regarding her lawsuit and described defending her daughter during a school board meeting against trans activists advocating for the transgender student's right to use the female locker room. Administrators proposed transferring her daughter to another PE class as a solution, but Georgas declined this option, asserting that her daughter would not participate in changing activities for the remainder of the year as she had done nothing wrong. She also disclosed filing complaints with both the Department of Justice and Department of Education; however, she claimed that her concerns were disregarded by the school.

Niemerg was elected to represent Illinois' 102nd District in 2020. According to his official biography, he is fiscally conservative with priorities including tax reduction, limited government advocacy, and pension reform. He holds pro-life and pro-Second Amendment positions.
