City of Arcola City Council met June 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Garza called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Alderpersons Foran, Hensley, Helmuth, Henson and Budd. Alderman Becerra was not present. City Administrator Wagoner, Treasurer Anderson, Attorney Bequette and Chief Suding were also present.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Alderman Foran led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

PUBLIC COMMENT There was none.

APPROVAL OF MAY 20, 2024 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES Alderwoman Helmuth moved to approve the May 20, 2024 council meeting minutes as presented and was seconded by Alderman Hensley. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF MAY 18, 2024 THROUGH MAY 31, 2024 BILLS Alderman Hensley moved to approve the May 18, 2024 – May 31, 2024 bills as presented and was seconded by Alderman Foran. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF THE TREASURER’S REPORT FOR MAY 2024 Alderwoman Helmuth moved to approve the Treasurer’s report for May 2024 and was seconded by Alderman Budd. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF THE MAY ZONING OFFICER’S REPORT The Zoning Officer reported 2 permits issued in the month of May with valuation of $188,325.00 and fees in amount of $287.10 collected. Alderman Foran moved to approve the May Zoning Officer’s report as presented and was seconded by Alderman Henson. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE ORDINANCE NO. 24-S-9, ANNUAL APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE Alderman Foran moved to approve Ordinance No. 24-S-9 and was seconded by Alderman Henson. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE RESOLUTION NO. 24-R-6, A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A REVOLVING LOAN FUND AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF ARCOLA AND JOSE TAMEZ, DOING BUSINESS AS TAMEZ AUTO REPAIR Alderman Foran moved to approve Resolution No. 24-R-6 and was seconded by Alderwoman Helmuth. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE A MOTION TO ALTER THE REDEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF ARCOLA AND ARCOLA COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION AND ACCOMPANYING DOCUMENTS TO MODIFY THE BOUNDARIES OF THE PARCEL TO BE TRANSFERRED FROM THE CITY OF ARCOLA TO THE ARCOLA COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION, AND DIRECTION TO CITY ATTORNEY, ENGINEER, AND STAFF TO MODIFY DOCUMENTS AS NEEDED TO EFFECT THE TRANSFER OF THE NEWLY ESTABLISHED BOUNDARIES OF THE PARCEL Alderman Foran moved to approve altering the Redevelopment Agreement between the City of Arcola and Arcola Community Organization and accompanying documents to modify the boundaries of the parcel to be transferred from the City of Arcola to the Arcola Community Organization, and direction to City Attorney, Engineer, and staff to modify document as needed to effect the transfer of the newly established boundaries of the parcel. Alderman Budd seconded the motion. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE HIRING PART-TIME POLICE OFFICER Alderman Henson moved to approve hiring a part-time police officer and was seconded by Alderman Hensley. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Alderman Foran Had nothing at this time.

Alderman Hensley Had nothing at this time.

Alderwoman Helmuth Had nothing at this time.

Alderman Henson Reported the Police, Ordinance & Enforcement Committee met prior to this meeting and discussed hiring a part-time officer and also received an SRO update from Chief Suding.

Alderman Budd Had nothing at this time.

As this concluded the business of the meeting, Alderman Hensley moved to adjourn and was seconded by Alderman Henson. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Adjourned at 7:07 p.m.
