Former Senate candidate's arraignment set on solicitation/murder-for-hire charge

The arraignment for former U.S. Senate candidate Allison Salinas is scheduled for August 7, 2025, at 1:45 p.m. in Tazewell County, Illinois. Salinas faces charges under case number 2025CF508 for Solicitation/Murder/For Hire, classified as a Class X Felony according to statute 720 ILCS 5/8-1.2(a).

If convicted, the sentence carries a mandatory minimum of 20 years in prison. The law states: "Solicitation of murder for hire is a Class X felony, and a person convicted of solicitation of murder for hire shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not less than 20 years and not more than 40 years, except that a person convicted of solicitation of murder for hire when the person solicited was a person under the age of 17 years shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not less than 25 years and not more than 60 years."

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
