Marshall Community Unit School District C-2 Board of Education met March 25.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education met in special session on Monday, March 25, 2024, with the following members present: Mr. Crews, Mrs. Hendrix, Mr. Lycan, Mr. Macke, Mrs. Rayhel, and Mr. Maurer were present. Superintendent Ross and administrators Ritchey and Bridgewater were also present.

Mr. Macke called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, led by Mrs. Hendrix

During the public comment, no comments were offered.

Student Discipline Hearing 1: Mr. Macke offered a motion, seconded by Mr. Maurer, to go into closed session for Student Disciplinary Cases 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9). The roll call vote was as follows: Mr. Crews, aye; Mrs. Rayhel, aye; Mr. Maurer, aye; Mr. Lycan, aye; Mrs. Hendrix, aye; and Mr. Macke, aye. The board went into closed session at 5:07 p.m.

Mrs. Hendrix offered a motion, seconded by Mr. Lycan, to return to open session. All present voted aye. The Board returned to open session at 5:17 p.m.

Mr. Macke offered a motion, seconded by Mr. Crews, to find Student B guilty of offenses. All present voted aye.

Mr. Macke offered a motion, seconded by Mrs. Hendrix, to return into closed session for Student Disciplinary Cases 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9). The roll call vote was as follows: Mr. Crews, aye; Mrs. Rayhel, aye; Mr. Maurer, aye; Mr. Lycan, aye; Mrs. Hendrix, aye; and Mr. Macke, aye. The Board entered Closed Session at 5:17 p.m.

Mr. Macke offered a motion, seconded by Mrs. Rayhel, to return to open session. All present voted aye. The Board returned to open session at 5:52 p.m.

Mr. Macke offered a motion, seconded by Mr. Crews, to Expel Student B to the beginning of 2nd Semester, 2024-25. The expulsion will be held in abeyance under the condition of successful participation in an Alternative Educational Placement as decided upon be the students IEP team. All present voted aye.

Student Discipline Hearing 2: Mr. Macke offered a motion, seconded by Mrs. Hendrix, to go into closed session for Student Disciplinary Cases 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9). The roll call vote was as follows: Mr. Crews, aye; Mrs. Rayhel, aye; Mr. Maurer, aye; Mr. Lycan, aye; Mrs. Hendrix, aye; and Mr. Macke, aye. The board went into closed session at 6:00 p.m.

Mr. Macke offered a motion, seconded by Mrs. Hendrix, to return to open session. All present voted aye. The Board returned to open session at 6:09 p.m.

Mr. Macke offered a motion, seconded by Mr. Crews, to find Student C guilty of offenses. All present voted aye.

Mr. Macke offered a motion, seconded by Mrs. Hendrix, to return into closed session for Student Disciplinary Cases 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9). The roll call vote was as follows: Mr. Crews, aye; Mrs. Rayhel, aye; Mr. Maurer, aye; Mr. Lycan, aye; Mrs. Hendrix, aye; and Mr. Macke, aye. The Board entered Closed Session at 6:12 p.m.

Mr. Macke offered a motion, seconded by Mrs. Rayhel, to return to open session. All present voted aye. The Board returned to open session at 6:37 p.m.

Mr. Macke offered a motion, seconded by Mrs. Hendrix, to Expel Student C to the end of the 2024-25 school year. The expulsion will be held in abeyance under the condition of successful participation in an Alternative Educational Placement as decided upon be the students IEP team. All present voted aye.

Mr. Macke offered a motion, seconded by Mr. Crews, to adjourn. All present voted aye. The Board adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
