U.S. Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) is throwing her support behind U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) for House Speaker.
“I am supporting Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House based on his proven track record of holding the Biden Administration accountable, rejecting soft-on-crime policies, fighting for border security, bringing oversight to the leftwing bureaucracy, reining in reckless spending, and ending the corruption within the Biden Department of Justice,” Miller said on Facebook.
“Joe Biden has weaponized the Department of Justice to target parents for attending school board meetings, pro-life Christians for protesting abortion clinics, and gun stores for selling firearms to law-abiding Americans. Biden is engaging in blatant election interference by using the DOJ to target his chief political opponent, President Trump, with a partisan witch hunt.”
“With a tough, conservative Speaker, we can stand strong against Biden and Schumer through the ongoing budget battle and Biden impeachment inquiry.”
“Jim Jordan is a man of faith who believes deeply in putting America first. I trust him to lead us as we work to confront the Biden border crisis, the Biden inflation crisis, and the Biden energy crisis. Under Speaker Jim Jordan, House Republicans will know they have a leader who will listen to them, fight for them, and stand with them in our battle to save America.”
Miller was one of 20 House members to vote for Jordan when the speaker’s spot went up for 15 votes earlier this year, The New York Times reported.
The move to support Jordan for the position comes days after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was ousted from his position by a floor vote, marking the first time a Speaker of the House was removed through a vote initiated by members of his own party.
A coalition of eight Republicans, including Andy Biggs, Ken Buck, Tim Burchett, Eli Crane, Matt Gaetz, Bob Good, Nancy Mace, and Matt Rosendale, joined with Democrats to declare McCarthy’s office vacant with a vote of 216-210, according to New York Post.
McCarthy’s removal, occurring just three days short of the nine-month anniversary of his election as Speaker, followed a motion to vacate that had never been successfully deployed in the House before.
The House Judiciary subcommittee on the “weaponization” of the federal government is being led by Jordan who has been highly critical of what has been dubbed the “censorship industrial complex” by journalist Matt Taibbi.
The increasing scrutiny of intelligence agencies began with the Twitter Files exposing the role of intelligence agencies in successfully burying the New York Post’s bombshell reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop.
That reporting revealed a string of emails revealing questionable relationships including tens of millions of dollars provided to the president’s ne’er do well son along with photos of him in sexual situations with prostitutes and smoking what appears to be a crack pipe.
The story was censored from social media and the New York Post’s Twitter account was taken down altogether limiting its traction before the 2020 presidential election.
More recently the Twitter Files have exposed the Biden administration’s zeal for authoritarianism spirit in censoring truthful information including the so-called “lab leak theory” which received new life a few weeks ago when endorsed by the Department of Energy and the FBI.
