Nicholas Banning has reached a settlement with Shelby County defendants and Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc. (ACH) following a lawsuit related to his treatment during his time at the Shelby County Jail. The lawsuit named several parties including "SHELBY COUNTY, SHELBY COUNTY SHERIFF BRIAN MCREYNOLDS, DON KOONCE, ADVANCED CORRECTIONAL HEALTHCARE, INC., CWENTON WILLIAMS, TONYA ATTEBERRY, DEVON DURBIN, MEGAN WARNER, MELISSA HAYNES, BRANDON GATTON, CHRIS ZAKOWSKI, DAINE BURKHEAD, KELLY ADAMS, and JACQUELINE CLAYTON."

A motion filed recently indicates that “Plaintiff’s counsel has conferred with counsel for the Shelby County Defendants and a settlement has been reach in principle pending final authorization in Mid-March 2025.” Another motion reveals that “Plaintiff and Defendant ACH have agreed to settle Plaintiff’s claims against ACH.”

Once these agreements are finalized and signed, there will be an effort to obtain the details through a Freedom of Information Act request to inform the public about the financial terms of the settlements. It is speculated that the settlement amount may exceed one million dollars.
