Tuscola Tourism Committee gathers to discuss sponsors for Market on Main event

The Tuscola Tourism Committee met Feb. 16 to discuss several sponsors for the Market on Main event starting in July.

The board favored a Christian band as well as purchasing the stage for the July 9 event. Members would like to see local performers and activities for kids; City Treasurer Alta Long presented the hotel tax revenue for this year compared to past years. Long also presented the Christmas preparation budget for next year and the budget for fiscal year 2017.

The Tuscola Tourism Committee is a committee formed by the City Council to oversee the activities and budget of the city's tourism department. The board meets monthly at Tuscola City Hall on the third Tuesday of the month at 8:30 a.m. The tourism department is funded by a local tax on hotel and motel operators.
