State Representative Blaine Wilhour from Beecher City has expressed his views following the announcement of guilty verdicts against former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan. Federal prosecutors have found Madigan guilty on ten counts out of 23 charges related to bribery.
Rep. Wilhour did not hold back in his statement: “Mike Madigan deserved his guilty verdict. I hope they throw him in prison. He is a corrupt, self-serving politician who has done tremendous damage to our state.”
Wilhour also criticized Madigan's successor, highlighting a lack of action on anti-corruption measures: “Almost as bad, his hand-picked successor, despite presiding over the most corrupt General Assembly in the nation, has passed zero anti-corruption reforms. We should be asking why.”
