There has been ongoing discussion about the noise levels produced by solar farms, particularly concerning a proposed project in Vermilion County. During a recent meeting, an attendee raised concerns about the noise generated by these facilities.

"Solar farms produce noise," the attendee stated. "The solar farm promoters in Champaign County told the zoning board that this is 'like living next to a cemetery.' When I asked if it was really like living next to a cemetery, the same developer said they would keep the noise below the maximum allowable noise levels allowed in the State of Illinois."

A video from the University of Illinois' Solar Farm, recorded recently in Vermilion County, highlights these concerns. The question remains whether residents would want to live near such constant noise.
