Illinois' energy plan could come with a staggering $1 trillion price tag, according to a new report released by business groups and organized labor. Critics of Governor Pritzker's green energy initiatives have long warned about the financial impact on residents and businesses. Illinois State Representative Chris Miller expressed concerns about the rising cost of energy and the reliability of the state's power supply.

Jim Sweeney, President-Business Manager of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 150, criticized government-mandated electrification policies. "A government-mandated full electrification policy would be a disaster for working families," he said. He emphasized that keeping natural gas in the energy mix is crucial for protecting jobs, maintaining grid reliability, and keeping energy affordable.

The report warns that current green energy policies are causing utility bills to rise significantly. The business community has voiced opposition to these measures, citing potential job losses and destabilization of the electric grid.

Rep. Chris Miller has called for comprehensive energy hearings to address these issues and hopes for collaboration with the business community to find solutions.
