Towards the end of the April 18, 2024, Champaign County Board Meeting, County Auditor George Danos was questioned about ethics after mentioning the topic in his presentation. A board member raised concerns that Danos had used a county computer to file his personal campaign finance report with the Illinois State Board of Elections.

Danos responded by stating he didn't see any wrongdoing in his actions and challenged anyone to "find" where he violated county policy. He further mentioned not seeing the "sin" in it, comparing it to having inappropriate content on his computer.

The situation has led to calls for action from some quarters. The allegations against Danos include claims that he may have breached ethical standards by using government resources for personal political activities.

In response to these allegations, there are suggestions for voters in Champaign County to consider filing an ethics complaint with the county ethics officer.
