A legal motion has been filed against the Village of Dolton due to unpaid judgments. The Motion for Citation to Discover Assets seeks to address a nonpayment issue stemming from a judgment totaling $220,194.56 against the village.
The case, Graham v. Dolton, involves allegations of retaliation against a whistleblower, violations of the Public Employee Disability Act, and breaches of the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act. These claims were directed at both the Village of Dolton and Robert Collins Jr.
In 2019, a settlement was reached between Graham and the village with provisions for attorney fees, which remained under court jurisdiction. Initially, $100,000 in attorney fees was awarded by the court. However, after an appeal by Dolton, the Appellate Court sent it back to Cook County Circuit Court.
On February 28, 2024, an order was issued granting Graham $203,018 in attorney fees along with $13,147.16 in costs. Despite this ruling, Dolton has not made the necessary payments as ordered by the court.
As a result of this failure to pay, there is now a possibility that Dolton's bank accounts could be frozen for an amount three times greater than the judgment until full payment is made.
