During a court hearing on February 29, 2024, regarding the Brzana v. Wesley Township Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit, there was a discrepancy concerning the attendance of plaintiffs. Both Wesley Township's attorney and the presiding judge suggested that plaintiffs were required to appear in person.

However, a review of the Court’s Order signed by the judge on January 24, 2024, revealed that there was no mandate for an in-person appearance by either plaintiff. This indicates that the order may not have been thoroughly reviewed by those involved.

The misinformation is linked to attempts by Wesley Township to impose sanctions on the plaintiffs. The issue might be addressed at a hearing scheduled for April 5, 2024.

This FOIA case represents ongoing tensions between Wesley Township and residents seeking access to public records after their initial requests were denied.
