State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) has voiced his opposition to a proposed legislation that would mandate the training of Illinois teachers on 'climate change' ideology. Speaking out against the bill, Rep. Niemerg expressed concerns about the impact of such a mandate on teachers and students alike.

“This is another very bad mandate on teachers to be indoctrinated on the ‘climate change’ ideology who will then be expected to pass that ideology onto our children,” declared Rep. Adam Niemerg.

Rep. Niemerg, a member of the Elementary & Secondary Education: School Curriculum & Policies Committee, emphasized the need for teachers to focus on core subjects like math and reading, rather than being required to teach a specific political ideology.

House Bill 4895, if passed, will necessitate the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to develop instructional materials and provide professional training for educators on climate change ideology. The bill also mandates that every high school in the state include this instruction in a required science or social studies class.

The legislation is set to move to the Illinois Senate for further consideration, with Rep. Niemerg encouraging constituents to reach out to their state senators to express their opposition to the proposed mandate.

For more information or to voice concerns about the bill, individuals are directed to contact Rep. Niemerg’s office at 217-813-6036 or visit RepNiemerg.com.
