The OVC has announced that Kaitlyn Flynn has won offensive player of the week after her performances last week in four matches. Flynn is this second Panther this season to win an OVC award after Giovanna Larregui Lopez won Newcomer of the Week in week one.
Over her last four matches, Flynn has thrown down 66 kills against her opponents including a career high 29 against Eastern Kentucky. She also posted 19 kills against Purdue Fort Wayne and 15 kills against Saint Francis (Pa.).
Her kills per set (4.71) led the team at the tournament and helped the team go 3-0 a the Geri Polvino Invitational. She posted a .229 hitting percentage over the past week which was third on the team with players who had at least 30 attacks.
After her performance at Eastern Kentucky, Flynn was named to the all-tournament team and was named the MVP of the Invitational. She also collected five service aces, 30 digs (third on the team) and four blocks. Her 73.5 total points led the team.
Flynn and the Panthers will start this week with a home match against No. 25 Illinois on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7:00 p.m. Students will receive free pizza, and the match will be a blue out for EIU fans. Livestats and video will be provided.
