City of Newman issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.
Notice is hereby given that a vacancy exists on the Newman City Council. The vacancy was created when Council Member Graham was elected to the Mayoral position. The term of said vacancy runs through November 2022.
As provided for in the California Government Code Section 36512 et. seq., the Council must either fill by appointment such vacancy within 60 days of commencement of the vacancy or call a special election to fill the vacancy. The City Council, at its December 8, 2020 regular meeting voted to fill the vacancy by appointment and authorized City Staff to open an application process and solicit applications from interested persons to serve as an appointed Council Member for the City Council’s consideration.

Please return applications to the City Clerk, City Hall, P.O. Box 787, 938 Fresno Street, Newman, California, 95360. Applications must be received by Friday, January 15, 2021. The City Council will interview candidates and consider making an appointment at the January 26, 2021 City Council Meeting.
