City of Effingham issued the following announcement on Feb. 6.
At Tuesday’s City Council Meeting, Mayor Jeff Bloemker presented a mayoral proclamation to Prairie Heart Institute at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital designating February as American Heart Month.
Mayor Bloemker joins HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in sending a message to all citizens to take time during this month of February to increase awareness of heart disease, signs and symptoms, and prevention and treatment.
"Unfortunately, heredity and diet put most Midwesterners in a danger zone when it comes to matters of the heart and blood circulation. Thank goodness for the presence of health care providers such as HSHS St. Anthony's Hospital to help steer us from this peril," stated Mayor Bloemker.
