Paris, Ill. – The Paris (Crestwood) Community Unit School District #4 has come under scrutiny due to public uncertainty about the election process this spring. Concerns have arisen online regarding the validity and format of the ballot.

Clarifying the situation, it is important to note the directive: voters are advised to "vote for no more than three candidates." The ballot reflects that no petitions were submitted for the unexpired 2-year term, leading to the board's plan to appoint someone to the role during a public meeting. This appointment will occur after the new winners of the 4-year terms have been seated.

According to state election law, this sequence of actions is appropriate. No irregularities have been detected, and the election process is following legal stipulations.
