On March 15, 2025, Andy Roberts, a candidate for the Paris District 95 School Board, was arrested for domestic battery and held in isolation at the Edgar County Jail. He was released the following day without a warrant being issued. This development is significant for the community, particularly in the context of an upcoming school board election.

Despite attempts to contact Roberts for comments regarding his arrest and its potential impact on his candidacy, he did not directly respond. Instead, Roberts addressed the incident via a post on his campaign's Facebook page. In this post, he appeared to downplay the seriousness of domestic violence.

The events leading to Roberts' arrest were documented in police reports from the Paris Police Department. These reports, which the public can access, suggest more occurred than was disclosed in Roberts' social media statement.

Currently, it remains uncertain whether the State’s Attorney will file charges against Roberts. No related records have appeared in the Judici court system thus far.

It is essential to note that arrest reports do not equate to guilt, as all individuals are considered innocent until proven otherwise in court.
