Kankakee County Board Member Chris Tholen has resigned following a lawsuit that sought his removal from office. The lawsuit, filed by the State’s Attorney, accused Tholen of failing to submit his mandated Statement of Economic Interest despite receiving timely notices.

The Kankakee County website now lists District 10, which Tholen represented, as "vacant." According to the county clerk, Tholen has submitted his resignation to the county board chairman.

The lawsuit also includes Leonora Noble, an Alderwoman in Kankakee, and Leo Todd Clark, an Alderman in Momence, for similar reasons. Both individuals are still listed on their respective websites.

A court hearing is scheduled for June 30, 2025.
