A recent incident in Bolingbrook, Illinois has drawn attention to the actions of a local official. Jackie Traynere, who serves as both a Will County Board Member and DuPage Township Administrator, was involved in an accident on the morning of March 11, 2025.
According to reports from the Bolingbrook Police Department, Traynere left the scene after allegedly striking a child on a bicycle at a crosswalk. Traynere later went to the police station where she stated that she had been stopped at a red light while the child was crossing. She claimed that when the left turn arrow turned green, she began moving and saw the child fall off his bicycle. Traynere mentioned being unsure if her car had struck him. Upon arriving at the police department, officers observed damage to her vehicle which included a dent and large scratch on its hood.
The child involved recounted that he was crossing with the "walk" signal when he was hit by Traynere's blue car. Another child present corroborated this account.
One witness described seeing Traynere's vehicle proceed forward when the light changed and strike the juvenile before leaving eastbound on Lily Cache Road. Another witness confirmed this sequence of events but added that Traynere briefly checked on the child before driving away.
A call from another witness prompted police involvement. Following these accounts, Traynere received a ticket for failing to yield right-of-way in a crosswalk.
The police report noted no visible injuries to the child; however, his bicycle chain was broken in the incident.
Attempts to reach Traynere for comment have been unsuccessful so far.
