State Representative Blaine Wilhour's office took part in the recent Kaskaskia College Career Conference, aimed at 8th-grade students from five counties. The event, held on February 21, 2025, provided information packets to students attending the session hosted by Rep. Wilhour and his staff.

The conference offered students transitioning to high school the chance to meet with various businesses and employers, exploring potential career paths. Rep. Wilhour emphasized his support for this initiative, allowing students to inquire about careers as elected officials and other roles within a district office, at the state Capitol, or across Illinois.

Students interested in legislative work learned about the Honorary Page Program through the House of Representatives. This program allows participants to shadow Rep. Wilhour during committee hearings and legislative sessions at the Capitol.

Additionally, students received information on the 29 departments within the Illinois State Government and were guided on using online resources to search for statewide job opportunities. These searches can be tailored by location, job type, or specific keywords such as "outdoors," "law enforcement," or "recreational."
