FOIA Request to Clay County Clerk Regarding 2025 Consolidated Elections Candidates on January 14, 2025.
In a bid to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at East Central Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Clay County Clerk's office. The request, made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, seeks to obtain a list of candidates running for the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections.
The specific details requested include each candidate's name, the date they filed their candidacy, and the office they are running for. We have asked that this information be provided in an electronic format for ease of use and accessibility.
As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
