Edgar County prosecutor admits to theft from bar association

On November 22, 2024, Edgar County Assistant State’s Attorney Lauren B. McQueen responded to a complaint from the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) alleging theft of funds from the Champaign County Bar Association during her tenure as Treasurer.

McQueen admitted to most of the unauthorized withdrawals, except for one amounting to $1,000. She acknowledged "engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation by conduct including knowingly using a total of $8,312.72 in funds belonging to the Champaign County Bar Association."

A formal hearing date has not been set yet.

The original complaint was filed by the Administrator of the ARDC on October 30, 2024. McQueen was accused of stealing from the Champaign County Bar Association. She was admitted to the bar in 2019 and currently serves as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Edgar County.

According to the complaint details available at this time, McQueen has not yet filed an answer regarding this matter. A formal hearing remains unscheduled.
