After a swearing-in ceremony for newly elected and reelected members, the Shelby County Board convened to elect its chairman and vice-chairman. Tad Mayhall was chosen as the county board chairman, while Teresa Boehm was elected as vice-chairman.

Teresa Boehm faces legal challenges following her indictment on January 25, 2024, by a Shelby County Grand Jury. She is charged with two felony counts: Violation of the Public Officer Prohibited Activities Act and Unlawful Participation. These charges are related to holding conflicting offices as per statutory regulations. Two motions to dismiss have been filed by Boehm's attorney but remain unheard in court. The case is still progressing through the judicial system.
