FOIA Request to City of Windsor Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at East Central Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Windsor. The request, sent on October 30, 2024, seeks detailed information about both new and active residential and commercial building permits issued in the city from January 1, 2023, till the present date.
Specifically, we are seeking data that includes the type of permit issued, the date it was issued, the fee paid for the permit, who requested it (the requester), the address where work is permitted to take place, and the name of the contractor involved. This information is sought for all new permits as well as those that are currently active within the city.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to our readership about local government activities, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that this information will help shed light on construction trends in Windsor and potentially highlight any irregularities or noteworthy patterns.
We have requested this information under Illinois' Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) and have asked for it in an electronic format for ease of analysis.
