FOIA Request Sent to City of Neoga Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024

FOIA Request to City of Neoga Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

In our continuous efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, we at East Central Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Neoga. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, with preference for the records to be provided in an electronic format.

The specific records requested are a comprehensive list of all parking violations currently unpaid within the jurisdiction of the city. This list should include pertinent details such as the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date when each violation occurred, and the total amount due.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We eagerly await a response from the City of Neoga and remain committed to delivering accurate news that promotes transparency and accountability in our local government.
