The village of Indianola, Illinois, is experiencing significant administrative changes following the resignations of several key officials. During a recent village board meeting, it was revealed that the village attorney and auditors had resigned earlier this year. The position of village clerk remains vacant, and the treasurer is actively seeking a replacement.

The meeting allowed residents to engage with the board on various local issues. Among the concerns raised were three contracts awarded for maintenance and renovation work on the village hall building. This includes HVAC upgrades, brick tuckpointing, basement waterproofing, interior demolition and remodeling, and a new roof installation.

Further issues emerged during discussions. It was reported that scrap metal from a village cleanup ended up on the mayor's property. Additionally, there was mention of the mayor partially "reimbursing" the village for using a skid steer in spring cleanup activities without board approval.

Trustee Kim Shonk announced her resignation at the meeting's conclusion, noting that her husband would also be stepping down from his role in village maintenance.

Post-meeting revelations included a lack of awareness among officials about the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The village currently lacks a FOIA officer and has not conducted necessary training for handling such requests or complying with Open Meetings Act requirements.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
