Tiffany Henyard, Thornton Township Supervisor, is alleged to have charged over $16,400 to township taxpayers for her "Friends of Tiffany Henyard" political campaign event held on September 1, 2024. Receipts provided to Frank Ghorbani under the Freedom of Information Act indicate that expenses for the event were billed under Thornton Township's name.

"We predicted in an earlier article (below) that the taxpayers of Thornton Township would be billed and/or pay for this campaign event, and we were apparently correct," a source stated.

The expenditures reportedly violate state law and Article VIII, Section 1, of the Illinois Constitution. Residents are urged to forward this information to the Cook County State’s Attorney to seek prosecution of Henyard and any township employees who assisted her in using public funds for a political campaign event. Additionally, it has been suggested that the township board demand Henyard’s performance bond cover these costs.

Photos from the event show numerous items bearing Henyard's name, raising concerns about their utility after a new supervisor is elected. Faces of children in these photos have been redacted.

A previous article reported that last Sunday, Henyard used Village of Dolton property and Thornton Township resources—including funds, equipment, personnel, and food bank supplies—to support her re-election campaign. This was described as "nothing more than the illegal use of public funds, property or credit for campaign and electioneering purposes."

The township board has been urged to calculate financial damages related to vehicles, personnel hours, tents, food boxes, web pages, Facebook pages, and other expenses. It is recommended they formally demand immediate reimbursement from Henyard and file a criminal complaint with the Cook County Sheriff and Cook County State’s Attorney demanding action.
