State Representative Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) is hosting a telephone town hall event with State Rep. Adam Niemerg on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, beginning at 6:00 PM. The focus of the town hall will be a recap of the legislative session and the state budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2025.

“My town halls are an opportunity to talk with people directly about their concerns and priorities for their families and communities,” explained Rep. Wilhour, Republican Spokesperson on the Appropriations-Elementary & Secondary Education Committee. “The telephone town halls make it convenient for constituents from all eight counties to participate when they can’t get away from other obligations or maybe they are not able to drive at night.”

Wilhour points out that there are many issues that come up in the General Assembly that impact the people of Illinois, from public safety to energy costs and taxes. "The budget, unfortunately, reflects the woke priorities of the Democrat party and Governor Pritzker." To date, the 103rd General Assembly has had 11,894 pieces of legislation filed for consideration (9,818 House & Senate Bills; 1,903 House & Senate Resolutions; 138 House & Senate Joint Resolutions; and 35 House & Senate Joint Resolutions Constitutional Amendments). At the end of this Spring Session, over 450 bills have gone to the Governor for consideration.

“I am pleased that I was able to pass a few bills this session including one to help people who want to start a business to sell their products at local farmers markets (SB 2617) and my legislation to commend two girls for their bravery and quick thinking in reporting a fire in Salem (HR 775),” added Wilhour.
