City of Martinsville City Council met April 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Attendance: Mayor Herman Davidson, Clerk- Sheena Hammond, Treasurer- Terri Connelly, City Attorney Richard Bernardoni, Dan Kibler-Marshall Advocate, Todd Shaffner

Meeting called to order by Mayor Davidson at 7:00 PM.

Prayer: Bob Lovell. All in attendance recited the “Pledge of Allegiance.”

Public Comment: None

Motion by A. Wilhoit, 2nd by C. Davidson, to approve the previous meeting minutes.

Bob Lovell met with the City’s Engineer, Shannon Woodard, Bob Waggoner, and Mike to discuss the construction of pickleball and basketball courts. Bob Lovell and Shannon will meet again to get a working design.

City Council reviewed applications for a full-time city worker position. Interviews will be scheduled with selected candidates.

Several sidewalks were discussed in need of repair. Alderpersons will evaluate any additional ones they recommend replacing.

Gas department certification and equipment purchase was tabled.

Motion by J. Hammond, 2nd by A. Wilhoit at 8:22 p.m., to go into executive session to discuss employment matters.

OTHER:

Chris Davidson:

● City needs to issue Ordinance Violations for garbage after city-wide clean up.

● Greenwell Funeral home sidewalk needs replaced, but the funeral director needs to make repairs to his side of things.

● Need trees planted.

Bob Lovell:

● Junior High students helped clean parks and cemeteries and did a great job.

Shane Pendleton:

● Inquired about the survey for the retaining wall and whether it had been done. It has not.

Ashley Wilhoit:

● Asked for a status update on handrails. Mayor Davidson states he has talked to Lloyd and he understands the timeframe.

Mayor Davidson:

● Shannon Woodard says one of the sidewalk slopes is not compliant.

--Motion by A. Wilhoit, 2nd by C. Perry, to close the meeting.

Meeting adjourned 9:19 PM.
