Rep. Adam Niemerg has revealed that Federal Safety and Security Grants are now accessible to Non-Profit Organizations in Illinois. The grants, amounting to $150,000, are being made available through the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS) to eligible 501c (3) organizations considered at high risk of potential terrorist attacks.

IEMA-OHS, functioning as the State Administrative Agency, will distribute these competitive grants to approved applicants in collaboration with the Grants Program Directorate/FEMA. Non-profit organizations with one site can apply for up to $150,000, while those with multiple sites can potentially secure up to $450,000 per sub-applicant, per funding stream, over a 36-month period.

The aim of the grants is to enable non-profit organizations to enhance safety and security measures by investing in security equipment, facility hardening, and other operational actions. These funds are to be utilized for target-hardening activities, which include the purchase or installation of security equipment on properties owned or leased by the organizations, as well as contracted security personnel. Projects must be completed within the three-year performance period.

In order to access further details regarding this funding opportunity, interested and eligible applicants are encouraged to visit the IEMA-OHS website at https://iemaohs.illinois.gov/ and download the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).
