Kaskaskia College recently hosted a career conference that aimed to educate 8th-grade students on various career options available to them. The event, supported by State Rep. Blaine Wilhour’s office, saw the participation of over 1,400 middle school students from Marion, Clinton, and Washington Counties.

During the conference, students were introduced to a wide range of career paths, including positions within the legislative branch. They also received valuable information about utilizing online tools such as the ilga.gov and IllinoisJobLink.com websites to explore job opportunities, understand job descriptions, and learn about starting salaries.

In addition to broadening their knowledge of career options, students who showed an interest in the Illinois General Assembly were encouraged to apply for the "Page-for-a-Day" program. This initiative offers students the opportunity to spend a day at the Capitol during the legislative session, gaining firsthand experience and insight into the legislative process.

The conference provided a valuable platform for young students to explore diverse career possibilities and equipped them with the necessary resources to make informed decisions about their future professional paths.
