State Representative Blaine Wilhour (IL) | Representative Blaine Wilhour (R) 110th District
State Rep. Blaine Wilhour met with several "Youth Day" participants in Springfield this week as part of the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives (AIEC) program. The AIEC has been providing young people with the opportunity to observe the legislative process and meet with their elected officials for over 60 years.
Each year, over 300 outstanding students participate in the Illinois Electric and Telephone Cooperatives Youth Day, where they get a firsthand look at democracy in action by meeting their elected representatives. Thousands of students have benefitted from this program, learning about how government works and the importance of citizen involvement.
State senators and representatives play a crucial role in inspiring and encouraging the leaders of tomorrow during this annual event held in Springfield. The program aims to educate and engage young individuals in the democratic process, shaping them into informed and active citizens.
