Rep. Wilhour: National Road Interpretive Center Celebrates 15 Years in Vandalia

State Rep. Blaine Wilhour expressed his gratitude towards the volunteers at the National Road Visitor Center in Vandalia during a presentation marking the center's 15th year. He acknowledged the volunteers' dedication to preserving history and providing educational experiences for visitors and students. Wilhour stated, "Thank you to all of the volunteers who have dedicated themselves to preserving our history and are key to providing a positive educational experience for visitors to our area and students from our schools."

The event, which took place on February 13, 2024, was attended by various local leaders and volunteers, including Jerry Swarm, the local president of the National Road Association, Vandalia Mayor Ricky Gottman, and volunteers Jessie Maas, David Dunn, and Joyce Meuller. Meuller, who has been volunteering at the center since its opening, was recognized for her longstanding commitment.

Jerry Swarm, a dedicated volunteer at the National Road Interpretive Center and Historic Vandalia, presented Rep. Blaine Wilhour with a souvenir road sign during the event. Swarm, who has also served as an Alderman for the City of Vandalia, exemplifies the spirit of community involvement and preservation of local history.
