New Hebron Christian School Student Serves as Page-for-a-Day for Rep. Niemerg

State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) had the pleasure of hosting 8th grade student Ashton Parrish from New Hebron Christian School in Robinson, Illinois, as a Page-for-a-Day during the Veto Session in the Illinois House of Representatives. Ashton's visit to the State Capitol was an opportunity for him to immerse himself in the legislative process and gain firsthand experience.

Ashton's enthusiasm and ambition caught the attention of Rep. Niemerg, who commended the young student for his dedication and involvement in various activities. Rep. Niemerg expressed his admiration, saying, "I am very impressed with Ashton who wants to be a state representative himself someday." Ashton's entrepreneurial spirit is evident in his ownership of a summer lawn care business. Additionally, he participates in sports, the Scholastic Quiz Bowl team, and plays the drums for the worship band at New Hebron Christian School. Notably, Ashton also serves as a Peer Mentor for junior high students and takes on responsibilities during the school's weekly chapel.

During his time as Page-for-a-Day, Ashton had the opportunity to sit at Rep. Niemerg's desk on the House Floor, where he learned about legislation and closely monitored the proceedings of the Illinois legislature. This immersive experience provided Ashton with a glimpse into the day-to-day operations of the state government.
