Brad Halbrook, representative for Illinois' 107th House District, announced his candidacy for re-election. He aims to continue challenging Democratic policies while promoting fiscal and ethical responsibility in the state.
"I'm rolling out my 2026 plans today," said Halbrook, State Representative for 107th District (R), according to Facebook. "Thanks for your past, present & future support. I'm not done fighting for you. I'll continue to challenge insane Democrat policies and fight to restore Illinois to a place of fiscal and moral common sense."
According to Halbrook, he has been recognized by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce as a Champion of Free Enterprise. He has also received endorsements from organizations such as the Associated Builders & Contractors, the Illinois Farm Bureau, and the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police. "I am seeking re-election because we need someone with courage and a willingness to make arguments and fight for commonsense laws and America’s founding principles," said Halbrook. He further said that Democrats have shown no restraint in spending or taxing in the state. Over the past two years, he has worked to connect voters with critical information through technology, social media, and town halls.

Halbrook is a founding member of the Illinois Freedom Caucus and was recognized by the Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA) as a Conservative Leader. The CLA is part of CPAC and focuses on government transparency and legislator accountability at both state and congressional levels. The organization gave him a 95% rating in 2022 and an overall score of 92% for his support of conservative causes. In 2023, they reported that Halbrook voted with conservatives in 21 instances within the Illinois House, opposing conservative priorities only once.
Recently, Halbrook joined a legal challenge filed by Senator Andrew Chesney against the budget process that led to the fiscal year 2026 budget. The lawsuit names House Speaker Emmanuel Chris Welch and Senate President Don Harmon as defendants. It seeks a temporary restraining order to block enforcement of Senate Bill 2510 during proceedings and requests a permanent injunction to prevent Welch and Harmon from certifying SB 2510 along with House Bills 20755 and 1075—bills identified as key components of the fiscal year 2026 budget.
Halbrook has served as a state representative since 2023. His previous terms include serving from Illinois' 102nd District (2017-2022) and from its 110th District (2012-2015).
