U.S. Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) has called for prayers for Israel while expressing concerns about national security due to the open southern border, linking the situation to the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Miller urged Americans to protect their Second Amendment rights to defend themselves and their families in the face of potential security risks, and former President Donald Trump echoed similar concerns, advocating for hard-line immigration policies to prevent such attacks in the United States.
“Please join me in praying for Israel. Joe Biden has put our nation at risk by opening our southern border to unvetted, military-aged men from hostile countries. It has never been more important to defend our Second Amendment rights to protect ourselves and our families,” Miller posted on Facebook.
She also linked to a video.
“Hello, everyone. Congresswoman Mary Miller here. I'd like to ask you to join me in praying for Israel. We've seen horrific images of the brutal attack on Israeli and American citizens over there,” Miller said in the video.
“I'm very concerned about security here in our country. Joe Biden has allowed unvetted military-age men from hostile countries to cross our border. The Democrats' agenda is to defund the police and abolish ICE. And in addition, Joe Biden is using the DOJ and DHS to target his political enemies rather than going after foreign terrorists. “
“It's never been more important for us to secure our border and to fight to defend our Second Amendment right, to protect our homes and our families.”
In a Breitbart article, Miller raised concerns about the vulnerability of the open southern border, drawing parallels to the conflict between Israel and Hamas, and urged Americans to retain their Second Amendment rights for self-defense.
As Hamas launched attacks on Israel via various means, including breaches by land, sea, and air, Miller emphasized that the open U.S. southern border poses a security risk, and Americans should be prepared to protect themselves and their families by upholding their Second Amendment rights.
Former President Donald Trump has warned about Hamas militants or other terrorists crossing into the U.S. via the porous southern border.
"Same people we have pouring into our country by the thousands. Are they planning to attack within our country?" Trump said, according to Newsweek. "Crooked Joe Biden and his boss Barack Hussein Obama did this to us. We cannot let this happen."
"They may be planning something very very bad...people are pouring in from the Middle East into our country, largely males, strong young males. What's going on over here? Are we going to be raided like Israel was raided?"
Trump noted the recent Hamas attacks on Israel to advocate for hard-line immigration policies, echoing his approach during the 2016 campaign, emphasizing the need for a travel ban.
He argued that such a ban would prevent similar attacks from happening in the United States, while other Republican candidates have also drawn parallels between the situation in Israel and the security of the U.S.-Mexico border, with some focusing on fentanyl and the Iran prisoner release deal as additional points of contention with the Biden administration, CNN reported.
Similarly, while on the campaign trail in Iowa, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a GOP presidential candidate, emphasized his national security policies and discussed the violence between Israel and Hamas, linking it to concerns about refugees from Gaza.
He expressed a firm stance against accepting Palestinian refugees into the United States, asserting that the U.S. should not fly people from Gaza into the country, as he believes they do not support Israel's right to exist and are generally antisemitic.
