U.S. Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) is aghast at what she and many others deem is the blatantly politically motivated prosecution of former President Donald Trump.
Miller said the Department of Justice under President Joe Biden has been perverted to attack Biden’s political enemies.
“The Biden DOJ wants President Trump to go to prison for 100 YEARS because President Trump is up in the polls and will defeat Biden in a free & fair election,” Miller said on Facebook. “Biden is attacking our Democracy by trying to take away our right to vote for the candidate of our choice!”
In a tweet, Miller stated she is dedicated to saving the country.
“We will not be deterred," she said as Trump’s indictment was announced, according to a previous report from East Central Reporter. "We will defeat the communists trying to destroy our country. We will save America.”
Trump pleaded not guilty to 37 federal charges related to the alleged hoarding of classified documents during his arraignment in a Miami courtroom. The charges were brought by special counsel Jack Smith. The federal indictment against Trump accuses him of keeping classified papers at his Mar-a-Lago resort after leaving office and then lying about it to federal investigators.
“The decision to segregate personal materials from presidential records if made BY the president during the president’s term and in the president’s sole discretion,” Trump told the press after arriving in New Jersey from his arraignment, RSBN reported.
According to The Hill, a Quinnipiac University poll reveals that nearly two-thirds of Americans surveyed believe that the Department of Justice's case against former President Trump over mishandling classified documents is primarily politically motivated. Of the respondents, 62% think the charges are driven by politics, while 34% believe they are motivated by the law. The poll also indicates that opinions on the case differ along party lines, with a majority of registered Republicans considering it politically motivated compared to a smaller percentage of registered Democrats.
Trump is scheduled to face trial in August on federal charges related to hoarding national security documents, although the initial trial date is likely to be delayed due to pre-trial litigation and the complexity of the case, according to the New York Post.
Miller received Trump’s endorsement in her successful 2022 campaign.
"She fights hard against Joe Biden's open borders, runaway inflation, and the radical indoctrination of our children. Mary has my complete and total endorsement!" Trump said.
