State Representative Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) criticized Illinois House Democrats following a vote on House Resolution 504, which condemns alleged actions taken by the Trump Administration’s ‘Operation Midway Blitz.’ Halbrook argued that Democrats should focus on issues affecting Illinois residents rather than what he described as “politically motivated resolutions.”

“Before lecturing us on due process, Illinois Democrats should take a hard look at the consequences of ignoring our laws, our borders, and their duty to protect the innocent,” Halbrook said. “With the lawlessness of Illinois’ Sanctuary State policies, so many innocent people have been affected. Where is the due process for victims of illegal immigrants? What about Laken Riley, a nursing student going for a jog or Katie Abraham who was just riding in a car? Both victims killed by illegal immigrants – by people who should have never been here. These victims and their families were denied the most basic right of all and that is life.”

Halbrook stated that while the House debated the resolution, other issues such as property tax relief and energy costs remain unresolved. He noted that House Republicans have introduced several bills on these matters, but said they are still awaiting action from the Democratic majority.

“Instead of using Veto Session to address the biggest issues our constituents are facing, we have chosen to debate these politically motivated resolutions,” Halbrook continued. “We should be tackling the high cost of living, the nation’s highest property taxes, and soaring energy costs—not wasting time on political theater. Illinois families deserve real solutions, not more resolutions.”

Halbrook, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state's 107th House District, replacing previous state representative Blaine Wilhour.
