U.S. Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) struck out against the indictment of former president Donald Trump by a Manhattan prosecutor.

Miller argued, “The Left claims they stand for democracy, but they pursue bogus investigations to try and remove their political opponents from the ballot so voters cannot vote for the candidate of their choice, which is the definition of democracy!"

"The partisan Manhattan D.A. is leading a political witch-hunt to punish Joe Biden's political opponents instead of getting justice for actual crime victims in the increasingly violent New York City," Miller said. "Every American should be concerned about this blatant political weaponization of the justice system."

The congresswoman representing the 15th District of Illinois said "Support for the America First agenda is on the rise because Joe Biden has created crisis after crisis with his attacks on our energy production and border security.”

"I join many of my constituents in offering my support for President Trump as he fights to defend our democracy from this latest Soros-funded attack on the rule of law,” Miller stated in a press release.

In a tweet, Miller said she is dedicated to saving the country. “We will not be deterred," she said as Trump’s indictment was announced. "We will defeat the communists trying to destroy our country. We will save America.”

Trump was indicted by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. His predecessor refused the case for six years before he took it up. The case surrounds hush money payments to a porn star who alleges she was paid to stay silent to not disclose an affair with Trump. The New York Post opined the case “just convinces America that our legal system is biased and politicized.”

Miller received Trump’s endorsement in her successful 2022 campaign. A Republican hardliner who supported the GOP 98.3 percent of the time in her first term in Congress, according to Roll Call. Miller voted against certifying election results in Arizona and Pennsylvania for Joe Biden in early 2021.
