Sen. Jason Plummer (R-Vandalia) has co-sponsored a bill criminalizing the selling of guns to convicted felons.

Senate Bill 2925 amends the Criminal Code of 2012, stating anyone who sells or provides a firearm to an individual convicted of a felony would be found guilty of a Class X felony.

The bill was filed Oct. 13 by Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Champaign).

The bill “provides that a  period of probation, a term of periodic imprisonment, or conditional  discharge shall not be imposed for the offense.”

Those found in violation of the bill may face a prison sentence between 10-30 years.

Sens. Rose, Jil Tracy (R-Quincy), Donald P. DeWitte (R-West Dundee), Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro), Win Stoller (R-Peoria), and Neil Anderson (R-Moline) are all co-sponsors of this bill.

Plummer was added as chief co-sponsor Oct. 19, following the filing and first reading of the bill.
