Republican State Rep. Chris Miller supports Illinois drama teacher Stacy Deemar, who sued Evanston-Skokie District 65 over Critical Race Theory teachings.
“Courageous Illinois teacher sues one of the most liberal school districts in the state over mandated Critical Race Theory instruction,” Miller recently posted on Facebook. ”The school district literally segregated teachers by race for training. For example, the district required its teachers to attend mandatory ‘antiracist’ training that included segregating teachers into racially exclusive affinity groups, requiring them to engage in racial discrimination against each other. Mm.... that sounds racist to me.”
In the legislature, Miller has long taken issue with Gov. J.B. Pritzker's leadership, recently accusing him of breaking a campaign promise over redistricting maps. As a candidate, Pritzker vowed to veto any map drawn along partisan lines, but Miller said he never believed that promise.
“There was never any question that they were going to ram through a partisan map to allow the Democrats to preserve their majority in Illinois," Miller told the East Central Reporter. "What incentive do they have to do anything differently?”
Miller said everything he hears from constituents lets him know they are that they are equally frustrated by the way the governor and Democrats are running the state.
“They know the Democrats can pass any kind of map they want, and there is nothing the Republicans can do about it,” he said, according to the East Central Reporter. “They are tired of the one-party rule in Illinois. It has brought nothing but pain and misery to the entire state. Illinois is woke and broke. The 110th District is not interested in woke politics, and they want our state to be fiscally solvent. They know with another 10 years of a Democrat majority, all we are going to get is more of the same, and our state will continue to be ruined.”
Miller also tackled the issue of unemployment office waits. "Illinoisans are still facing unacceptable wait times with IDES and are now being hung up on by the very people who are supposed to help them through the unemployment process," he posted to Facebook May 7, linking to the ABC 7 report. "My own HJR17 would urge the Auditor General to conduct a performance audit of the IDES so we can get people the help they need, but it is currently being held up by House Democrats."
