Paris FD responds to 34 fires in 2018

Paris Fire District responded to 95 calls in 2018 - 1 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Paris included 34 fires - 17 structure fires, four vehicle fires and 13 other fires. The fire department also responded to four calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $652,600 in fire loss - or about $19,194 per fire.

The department also received 57 false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.

The Paris Fire District had an annual budget of $322,092 in 2018.

The Paris Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 14 active employees and 16 retired or inactive employees, was $81,581 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $1,736 for every fire in 2017.
