City of Arcola City Council met May 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Ferguson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Alderpersons Smith, Hensley, Ferguson and Budd. Alderpersons Huckstep and Foran were not present. City Administrator Wagoner, Treasurer Anderson and Attorney Bequette were also present.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Alderman Smith led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

PUBLIC COMMENT There was none.

APPROVAL OF MAY 06, 2019 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES Alderman Smith moved to approve the May 06, 2019 council meeting minutes as presented and was seconded by Alderwoman Ferguson. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF MAY 04, 2019 – MAY 17, 2019 BILLS Alderman Smith moved to approve the May 04, 2019 – May 17, 2019 bills as presented and was seconded by Alderman Hensley. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE STREET CLOSURE FOR ANNUAL POP THE TOP CAR SHOW Judy Smith of the Pop the Top Car Show Committee was present and requested the council approve the closure of Oak Street from Jefferson to Main Streets and Main Street from Oak to Locust Streets from 8:00 a. m. to 3 p.m. on June 22, 2019. Alderman Smith moved to approve the request from the Pop the Top Car Show Committee and was seconded by Alderman Budd. Roll call vote, Smith, abstain; Hensley, aye; Ferguson, aye; Budd, aye; Mayor Ferguson, aye. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE ORDINANCE NO. 19-Z-4, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION OF ZONING AT 221 E. SPRINGFIELD – B-1 GENERAL COMMERCIAL Alderman Hensley moved to approve Ordinance No. 19-Z-4 and was seconded by Alderwoman Ferguson. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE SALARY INCREASE FOR CHANDLER JAQUES – CERTIFIED TASER INSTRUCTOR Alderman Smith moved to approve a salary increase for Chandler Jaques in the amount of $.25 per hour and was seconded by Alderwoman Ferguson. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE ORDINANCE NO. 19-S-5, AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE USE OF GROUNDWATER AS A POTABLE WATER SUPPLY BY THE INSTALLATION OR USE OF POTABLE WATER SUPPLY WELLS OR BY OTHER METHOD Alderman Budd moved to approve Ordinance No. 19-S-5 and was seconded by Alderman Smith. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Alderman Smith Had nothing at this time.

Alderman Hensley Had nothing at this time.

Alderwoman Ferguson Reported the Employee Relations Committee met prior to this meeting to discuss wage adjustments.

The committee will return to this in Sept.

Alderman Budd Had nothing at this time.

As this concluded the business of the meeting, Alderwoman Ferguson moved to adjourn and was seconded by Alderman Hensley. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
