Former state university employee Beltz paid in $11K to pension fund, could collect $162K in retirement

Former state university employee Teresa Beltz, who retired in December 2017, saved $11,304 toward a pension over 6 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Beltz would collect as much as $161,566, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes East Central Reporter.

The projection assumes Beltz received $3,396 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Beltz will have already received $14,208 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
