Report: Cowden-Herrick spent $9,962 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Cowden-Herrick Community Unit School District 3A is up 3.9 percent from five years ago, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Shelby County school district spent $9,589 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $9,962 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 405 to 356.

Cowden-Herrick's spending in 2017-18 was 25.3 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
