Edgar County approves at-large school board

Edgar County said "yes" to the only referendum on its Nov. 6 ballot, the Oakland Community Unit School District 5 Referendum, which proposed electing school board members at large: "Shall members of the Board of Education of Oakland CommunityUnit School District No. 5, Coles, Douglas, and Edgar Counties,Illinois, be elected in 2019 and thereafter, at large and without restriction by area of residence within the district instead of the current restriction that not more than three (3) members on the board of education may be selected from one (1) congressional township in the school district?"

With 100 percent of the votes counted, 30 were in favor and 9 were opposed.
