Retired Flora CUSD 35 employee Janis Hubble saved $36,136 toward her pension over 20 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.

Over 32 years of retirement, Hubble would collect as much as $1.18 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes East Central Reporter.

Hubble, 63, who currently lives in Meridian, ID earned $28,660 in her final year at Flora CUSD 35.

The projection assumes Hubble will receive 72.8 percent of that total - $20,865 - in her first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After three years of retirement, Hubble will have already received $64,492 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of her contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.

According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), 22.9 percent of Flora CUSD 35 students met or exceeded the standards for the "PARCC" exams. ISBE reported that 29.6 percent of district's graduates were deemed "college ready" last year.
